31 July 2008

Cats and dogs is a Wall Street slang used to describe:

  1. Nonperforming securities, or
  2. Highly speculative securities.

It is also the name of a 2001 children’s film, Cats & Dogs.

Those are both derived from the English phrase “It’s raining cats and dogs”, which indicates heavy rainfall.
